The Kubernetes and cloud-native conferences to know in 2027

KubeCon, the community days and the independent cloud-native conferences of 2027, by region, with dates, costs and what each one is good for.

Published

The Kubernetes conference year has a clear shape. Two big KubeCon weeks, one in Europe in spring and one in North America in autumn, anchor it. Around them sit dozens of smaller events: Kubernetes Community Days (KCDs) run by local volunteers with CNCF backing, national “Cloud Native Days” that grew out of KCDs, and independent conferences such as ContainerDays. This guide goes through the ones on our list for 2027, with what each is good for.

Some of them had not announced 2027 dates when we checked. Those are marked (expected): their dates are the previous edition moved forward 52 weeks, and they may change. The Kubernetes topic page always has the current list.

The two KubeCon weeks

KubeCon + CloudNativeCon Europe, Barcelona, 15 to 18 March 2027. The Cloud Native Computing Foundation’s main European conference, at Fira Gran Via. The Monday is given to CNCF-hosted co-located events (ArgoCon, BackstageCon, CiliumCon, Observability Day, Platform Engineering Day and others), which need the All-Access pass; Tuesday to Thursday carry keynotes, breakouts, tutorials and the sponsor hall. Prices for 2027 had not been published when we checked. For reference, the listing gives the 2026 Amsterdam rates: a corporate main-conference pass ran from USD 999 early bird to USD 1,899 late, before VAT, with cheaper individual and academic rates.

KubeCon + CloudNativeCon North America, New Orleans, 8 to 11 November 2027. Only a save-the-date page was out in October 2026: no venue, prices or call for proposals yet. Recent North American calls have closed in late spring, so speakers should plan an abstract around March.

KubeCon + CloudNativeCon China (expected), Shanghai, early September. Run jointly with OpenInfra Summit and PyTorch Conference since 2026, with talks in English or Chinese. Its passes have been far cheaper than the other two KubeCons: the listing gives 2026 corporate rates of USD 120 to USD 299.

If you are going to Barcelona, look at Cloud Native Rejekts on 13 and 14 March, the weekend before. It is a free, community-run conference for good talks that did not make the KubeCon programme, and a more technical, smaller warm-up for the week.

A practical note on all of them: KubeCon talks go to the CNCF YouTube channel after the event. If your goal is the talks rather than the people, the recordings cover a lot of it.

Community days: the KCDs

KCDs are one-day or two-day events organized by local volunteers. They are cheap or free, mostly single-city, and much easier to speak at than KubeCon. The 2027 ones on our list:

KCDs need CNCF approval for each half-year, so a KCD that has not announced dates may not run at all. Check before you plan travel around one.

National cloud-native conferences in Europe

Several European KCDs have grown into larger, independently named conferences. They keep the community feel, usually rule out sales pitches, and often add a workshop day.

Independent and commercial conferences

ContainerDays started in Hamburg and now runs in several cities. ContainerDays London is on 10 and 11 February, ContainerDays Warsaw, its first Polish edition, on 23 and 24 February, and ContainerDays Hamburg in early September (expected). A community committee picks the talks and vendor pitches are not accepted. London has a GBP 99 student pass (plus VAT) next to its corporate tickets.

DevOpsCon runs multi-day events with workshop and bootcamp days in Amsterdam (19 to 23 April), San Diego (24 to 28 May), and (expected) London, Berlin, New York and Munich. It is a paid format aimed at teams that want structured training as well as talks.

CloudLand is a three-day cloud-native conference held inside the Heide Park Soltau theme park in northern Germany, from 31 May to 2 June.

Asia-Pacific

Japan’s volunteer-run CloudNative Days series holds its main Tokyo event, CloudNative Days Winter, in November (expected); recent editions were free on site and online, with talks in Japanese. In Taipei, KubeSummit Taiwan (expected) is the yearly Kubernetes conference run by the IT publication iThome, with workshops next to the talks.

Online

If travel is off the table, Conf42 Cloud Native is a free online day on 8 April with pre-recorded talks, and KubeCrash runs free online crash courses on cloud-native open source twice a year.

How to choose

  • Go to one KubeCon if Kubernetes is your job. The co-located day alone often justifies it, and it is where maintainers and the teams who run the software meet. Pick the one that fits your region and budget.
  • Add one or two community events. A KCD or a national Cloud Native Days costs a fraction of KubeCon, the talks come from teams in your region, and they are the easiest stage to speak on. The CFP guide has advice for a first submission.
  • Watch the rest. Most of these events publish recordings, so a team can share the viewing instead of the travel.

The 2027 calendar guide puts these events next to the rest of the year, and the budget guide helps decide how many a team can afford.
