About KCD Panama 2027
KCD Panama is the first Kubernetes Community Day in Panama, set for Friday 22 January 2027 at the convention centre in Ciudad del Saber, the City of Knowledge campus on the edge of Panama City. It is organised by the local Cloud Native Community Group with CNCF support, and the organisers, who come from companies including Veritas Automata and Dell Technologies, want it to draw people from across Central America, playing on Panama's role as a hub of the Americas. The event was first planned for the first half of 2026 and has moved to this January date. The organisers' call for speakers set out the formats: 30-minute talks, 90-minute workshops limited to 30 people, and 15-minute lightning talks, with Spanish recommended and English accepted. Topics on the list include platform engineering and developer experience, cloud native security, private and sovereign cloud, observability, SRE, FinOps, green software, AI and MLOps, and even legal and policy questions. It is a non-profit community event: speakers cover their own travel, and first-time speakers are offered mentoring on storytelling and slides. Ticket sales had not opened when we checked, and the status of the 2027 call for proposals was unclear. A good regional gathering for Central American engineers who rarely get a cloud native event this close.
