About Open Source Summit Japan 2027
The 2027 edition has not been announced yet; these dates are expected, based on the early-December Monday-to-Wednesday slot used in 2025 and 2026. Open Source Summit Japan is the Linux Foundation's annual Tokyo conference for open source developers and the engineers who build products on open source, held separately from KubeCon + CloudNativeCon Japan, which runs in summer. It is broader than a DevOps event: the same pass covers the Automotive Linux Summit and Embedded Linux Conference Asia, so kernel, embedded and automotive work sits beside the cloud content. Platform and operations engineers will mostly use the Cloud & Orchestration track, whose 2026 call asked for talks on infrastructure as code, cloud native storage, observability and migration to cloud native, and the Packages, Images & Containers track, plus security sessions on policy agents and confidential computing. Most talks are in English, with some given in Japanese with English slides, and no simultaneous interpretation has been advertised. The 2024 to 2026 editions all used Toranomon Hills Forum in central Tokyo. For reference, the 2026 call for proposals closed in late August, roughly fifteen weeks before the event. Recordings of past editions are on the Linux Foundation YouTube channel.
