About Open Source Summit Japan 2026
Open Source Summit Japan is the Linux Foundation's yearly Tokyo conference for people who build on and contribute to open source, and the 2026 edition runs from 7 to 9 December at Toranomon Hills Forum. It is wider than a DevOps event: one registration also covers the Automotive Linux Summit and Embedded Linux Conference Asia, so kernel, embedded and automotive sessions share the building with the cloud material. For platform and operations engineers the relevant tracks are Cloud & Orchestration, whose call for proposals asked for infrastructure as code, cloud native storage, observability and migration talks, and Packages, Images & Containers, with cloud infrastructure security, policy agents and confidential computing listed as security topics. Formats include keynotes, breakout sessions and birds-of-a-feather meetings. Most sessions are in English; the schedule marks some talks as Japanese with English slides and others as English with Japanese slides, and no simultaneous interpretation is advertised. ONE Summit Japan (open networking and edge) and the invitation-only Open Compliance Summit follow on 10 and 11 December as paid add-ons. The call for proposals closed on 24 August 2026. Recordings of earlier editions are on the Linux Foundation YouTube channel.
