About Everything Open 2027

Everything Open is Linux Australia's annual grassroots conference on Linux, open source software, open hardware and open data, and the event that carries on from linux.conf.au. It earns a place in a DevOps calendar through its operations content: the 2027 edition adds three specialist tracks, one per day, and one of them, Operations and Security in Practice, covers tools, emerging practices and security realities for running Linux and open infrastructure. The other two specialist tracks deal with kernel development and open technology in the public sector, while the main programme runs 20- and 45-minute talks and 100-minute hands-on tutorials over three days, with a keynote each morning, lightning talks on the Friday and the traditional Penguin Dinner. The 2027 conference takes place from 20 to 22 January at QUT Gardens Point in Meanjin / Brisbane. It is volunteer-run and not-for-profit; prices are in Australian dollars including GST and range from AUD 149 for students to AUD 1,499 for the contributor tier, with an AUD 129 online-only ticket for the live sessions. Talks from past editions are published free on YouTube and on the Linux Australia mirror. The call for sessions closed on 20 September 2026, with speaker notifications due in the week of 19 October.
